You’re Invited: Join My Online Study Group

Transformation begins with a choice to allow something new to take place. Defined, transformation means “a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance.” I remember learning about the metamorphosis of the life cycle of a caterpillar as it spun it’s cocoon or chrysalis to allow conversion into a monarch butterfly. Even as an eight year old, studying this alteration of life seemed remarkable and almost unbelievable. There are many spiritual parallels when you and I choose to allow God to speak to us through a study of His attributes, when we call on His names and invite Him to change us into the likeness of His son, He does something new. Won’t you join us? Here’s the details:

Dear friends and family, starting October 1, join the journey: an online Facebook group studying my new book, Experiencing God Through His Names.

Naming people, things, and issues brings excitement. Think about the freedom that comes when you name a fear you have. When I own my fears and bravely say them out loud, I give them a name. This honest act loosens their chokehold on me. That’s power. When I became a new creation in Christ, God gave me a new identity and a new name. Like God gave Abraham, Sarah, and Jacob each a new name, He reminded me:

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” —Ephesians 5:8 (NIV)

Experiencing God Through His Names offers practical help. Do you have an unmet need? Call on the name of Jehovah Jireh—the God who provides.

A person’s character and destiny are influenced by his or her name. The St. Anthony Messenger talks about the importance of names: “A name is a major part of someone’s identity. The Israelites were surrounded by people who believed in many gods. These gods and goddesses exhibited all the human vices—and some of the virtues—but supposedly had much greater power. These deities were invoked easily and often.” Moving from believing in many gods to believing in a single God took a long time; reverence for the uniqueness of God’s name was part of the process.

Join the journey. Experiencing God Through His Names is a wonderful way to get to know God better. An online study group will begin October 1. Send me an email if you want to join me.

As a child, when my mom called me by using my first and middle names, I knew she meant business. In the same way, if we understand God’s character, attributes and personality by calling on His unique names when we pray, we offer specific, power-packed, and effectively directed prayer. Start today by calling on the name of the Lord God right now.
